REGULAR FEATURES
The festival begins on Friday afternoon and runs until Monday afternoon with most stages finishing at 1pm. The whole village is transformed festival-style with main stages at the Festival Arena at the south end of Sackville St plus many other venues around the village. These include St Johns and St Patricks churches, the Lecture Hall, St Pats Hall, Consolidated School Hall, Surf Club and Bowls Club.

THE FESTIVAL ARENA
The Festival Arena is the main location presenting ten stages, Food Festival, Market and Craft Stalls. The stages include five large covered Main Stages, The Folk Circus, The Wine & Guinness Bar, Lighthouse Cafe, FOLKworX and INSTRUMENTworX - a large instrument makers exhibition.

INSTRUMENTworX
This large instrument makers exhibition is packed with enthusiasts of beautiful hand made instruments by the best makers in the country offering a unique chance to try before you buy. Workshops and two "Australian Made & Played Concerts" complete this fantastic festival feature.

FREE FESTIVAL OF THE STREETS
In addition to the main ticketed program, the festival presents a full weekend of open access events in the village centre. These include the Festival of The Streets with four stages: Fiddlers Green, Railway Stage, The Edge Stage at the Community Centre, The frINge Festival Stage at the Surf Club, Markets and Food Festival, Buskers, Sessions, Singalongs, Street Performances and much more.

1977 UNTIL...?
The festival started in 1977 and from the start used various halls and historic venues. A huge arena now adds to the stock of venues.

30 FESTIVALS ON!
In 2006, the Port Fairy Folk Festival Committee staged the 30th festival. The festival changed its timing from December to March in 1980 - two festivals were produced just three months apart.

NATIONAL AWARDS & HALL OF FAME
Having won state and national Tourism Award in three consecutive years, in 1995 it was admitted to the Tourism Hall of Fame. At that time only one other event had achieved this - the Ford Australia Open tennis tournament.
